Co-pilot of missing plane tried to make call from his phone after plane vanished but 'was abruptly cut off'
UK Daily Mail reports
Investigators have learned the call was made from a mobile phone which belonged to Fariq Abdul Hamid (left) as the Boeing 777 flew low near the island of Penang, on the north of Malaysia's west coast. It was understood the aircraft, with 239 people on board, was flying low enough for the nearest telecommunications tower to pick up Fariq's signal. The call ended abruptly. However, contact was definitely established with a telecommunications sub-station in Penang state. Experts have said it is possible for a mobile phone to be connected to a telecommunications tower at an altitude of 7,000 feet - which is low for a large jet like the Boeing 777 unless it was flying at high speed to maintain height. Yesterday it looked like the
Should I marry a man who always threatens but has never hit me?
From a female LIB reader
I've been dating this guy for almost two years now and although he has never hit me, he's always threatening violence. He would tell me things like 'If you don't shut your mouth, I'm going to smack you. Why would you behave like that? You deserve to be punched. One of these days I will give you a dirty slap. I don't take nonsense, I will beat you. You are pushing me, one of these days you will get it." He has been saying things like this for almost two years but has never laid a finger on me. Now he wants to marry me. I will never tolerate violence on my person and because of his words I'm hesitant to accept his proposal. When I told him what my reservations were, he said he's never hit a woman and doesn't plan to. So why does he say it all the time? My friend told me men change when they become husbands. Would he act out his threats when I marry him?

My husband used love portion to marry me, wife tells court

A 36-year-old hairdresser, Adeola Fabiyi, told an Abeokuta customary court sitting in Ake, that her husband, Alfa Kasumu, used charm to marry her.

Meanwhile, Kasumu, a muslim cleric, denied the allegation and said she is wayward.

The applicant added that Kasumu helped her by doing a charm that made the business flourish and customers started trooping into her shop.
My colleagues want to run me down" - comedian Klint Da Drunk

"Now they say I would have gone far in my career if not for my love for computer games. It is this same set of comedians that went around telling people that I live in Abuja so that I will not be getting Lagos shows. My colleagues want to run me down, let them feel free. It is because they are afraid of me; they feel that if they run me down I won’t survive it. I am a gadget lover, that is the truth. Everyone knows that whenever I walk into a gadget shop the people there want me to educate them about some of their gadgets. Isn’t it better that I am a sucker for video games than a sucker for smoking igbo, marijuana?” he asks
On his relationship with other comedians, Klint said "They have cliques but that does not bother me because it doesn’t affect my career. God still chases away flies for a tailless cow. So, I'm not complaining".

Faking Sexual Satisfaction
There is no point faking it in bed because chances are your sexual partner will be able to tell. A study by researchers at the University of Waterloo found that men and women are equally perceptive of their partners’ levels of sexual satisfaction.
The study by Erin Fallis, PhD candidate, and co-authors Professor Uzma S. Rehman and Professor Christine Purdon in the Department of Psychology at Waterloo, identified sexual communication and ability to recognize emotions as important factors that predict accuracy in gauging one partner’s sexual satisfaction.
The study was published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior this month.
“We found that, on average, both men and women have fairly accurate and unbiased perceptions of their partners’ sexual satisfaction,” said Fallis, the study’s lead author. “We also found that having good communication about sexual issues helped participants to understand their partners’ sexual satisfaction. However, even if sexual communication was lacking, a person could still be fairly accurate in gauging his or her partner’s sexual satisfaction if he or she was able to read emotions well.”
The study involved 84 couples that were part of a larger study on sexual functioning and satisfaction. Fallis separated the partners, asked them to each report on their levels of commitment, relationship satisfaction, sexual satisfaction, sexual communication and measured their emotion recognition abilities.
Couples in a sexual relationship develop what psychologists call a sexual script, which forms guidelines for their sexual activity.
“Over time, a couple will develop sexual routines,” said Fallis. “We believe that having the ability to accurately gauge each other’s sexual satisfaction will help partners to develop sexual scripts that they both enjoy. Specifically, being able to tell if their partners are sexually satisfied will help people decide whether to stick with a current routine or try something new.”
As well as affirming important factors for healthy sexual relationships, the study’s findings may help to reduce a common stereotype in our culture that women and men have difficulty communicating with and understanding one another.
“The next step in this research is to look at the impacts of having more or less accurate perceptions of one’s partner’s sexual satisfaction over time in long-term relationships,” said Fallis. “We expect that having a more accurate understanding of one’s partner’s sexual satisfaction will have positive impacts for both partners’ sexual satisfaction and we’re eager to test this idea.”

Adhere to academic calendar, commissioner warns private schools

Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye
The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, has stressed the need for private primary and secondary schools in the state to adhere to the revised schools’ calendar for the 2014/2015 academic session.
She stated this on Thursday in a statement.
Oladunjoye, however, pointed out that schools affiliated with embassies, missions and those that present candidates for international examinations have a grace period.
She said, “Private schools should adhere strictly to the 2014/2015 academic year calendar and subsequent ones in the opening, resumption and mid-term dates.
“However, schools affiliated with embassies, missions as well as those presenting candidates for international examinations may be given a window of flexibility of one week before and after official resumption or closing dates but they must comply with the mid-term dates.”
Oladunjoye noted that it was compulsory for schools in the state to complete the 38 to 39 weeks of academic contact period with the pupils in order to adequately cover their curricula

Nobody cares
In our cities, you can go to work in the morning and find a dead man lying on the street. When you come back in the evening, you are likely to find him still there. Nobody really cares.
Nobody cares that, as a result of being the highest users of generators in the world, we are killing ourselves with the fumes. Nobody cares that our women are dying by the tens of thousands from ingesting the smoke from cooking with firewood all day long. Nobody cares that our orthopedic hospitals now have glorified “okada wards,” full of people maimed and crippled by naira-drunk motorcyclists. Nobody cares that our flea-markets and supermarkets sell expired foods and our so-called pure water is responsible for the high incidence of typhoid.
Why Is There No Regard For Human Life In Nigeria? By Femi Aribisala

I just returned last week from a short visit to London. One of the major news items there was the re-opening of an inquest into the Hillsborough disaster of 1989 when some spectators died during the F.A. Cup semi-final football match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. When I heard this, I shook my head. These “oyinbos” are still concerned about deaths that took place 25 years ago. But here in Nigeria, there is no serious inquest into the deaths of job-applicants to the Nigerian Immigration Service in several cities just this year.
A Senate Committee spent a perfunctory two days paying lip-service to the disaster. The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, refused to resign. His understanding of his responsibility did not go beyond mouthing vain platitudes. The government imposed no sanctions on those who turned our stadiums into death-traps simply in order to defraud the poor unemployed of 6 billion naira. A court-verdict ordered that 50 million naira compensation should be paid to the suspended Central Bank Governor for his unlawful detention for 24 hours. How much compensation should be paid for the senseless deaths of innocent job-seekers?
Photos: Nigerian arrested in Thailand for selling cocaine

A Thai lady named Somkid Kwanngern was first arrested with 1.2g of cocaine and upon questioning told the police it was her Briton friend, Curtis Martin Taylor, who gave them to her. She took the police to Taylor who confessed to buying the drugs from Ibenuba. The Thai police hatched a secret investigation on Ibenuba using the Thai lady who pretended to be a buyer. She called Ibenuba asking to buy 5.45g of cocaine from him and he asked her to come to his house at KK Apartment to receive it, which she did. After the deal was concluded and fake money provided by the police had been handed over to Ibenuba, she notified the police.
The police immediately moved in on Ibenuba, arrested him and charged him with possession of category 2 drug while the Thai and the Briton were charged with possession of category 2 & 5 drugs

"There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free and women are not. That is crazy."
"You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist - whatever you want to be - and still be a sexual being.
