Create 18 more States - National Conference to FG



The National Conference on Thursday adopted a recommendation of its Committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government for the creation of 18 new states in the country, as well as for the rotation of the office of the president.


It specifically agreed that in the spirit of reconciliation, equity and justice, an additional state should be created for the South East zone, which currently has only five states.

Women abduct nine-year-old girl, sell her for N650,000



The Lagos StatePolice Command arrested four women for allegedly abducting and selling a nine-year-old girl, identified simply as Blessing, for N650,000.


The women are Fausat Ogidan, Abibat Oresanya, Bola Obajuruwa and Idiyat Abass.

It was gathered that the women were apprehended on Sunday, June 6, after a tip-off.

The state Commissionerof Police, Umar Manko, had directed the command’s Special Anti-RobberySquad, led by SP Abba Kyari, to go after the child sellers’ syndicate

A jealous Royal Mail worker stabbed his wife 32 times and then called her father round to show him the corpse, the Old Bailey has heard.
Richard Otunga, 37, is accused of repeatedly knifing Shamin Gabriel, 33, after confronting her about text messages she was receiving from other men.
The court heard Miss Gabriel's father Gabby went to the couple's flat in Northolt, west London, last December and found his daughter lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor,.
Otunga, who had a history of domestic violence, claimed he 'lost consciousness' during an argument with his wife.
The court heard he later told officers: 'I killed her. She was getting text messages from men at work, we both work for Royal Mail.
'We argued and she went to the kitchen and picked up a knife and said she would kill herself, so I took it and killed her.'

Soldiers kill RCCG pastor, injure 2 others in Delta


Soldiers have shot dead a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and injured about three others at the quiet Opuraja community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

The pastor said to be in his 30s was married with four children.

A security source said the soldiers, led by a Captain, came in two Hilux vans to conduct investigation in the community, but were allegedly mobbed by villagers, who misconstrued their motive, as they took away vigilante leader and community chairman.

Human parts market discovered in Kwara



The Kwara state Police command on July 1st uncovered a ritualist den at Eyekorin road in Illorin, the Kwara state capital following a tip-off. The police, led by the state Police Commissioner, Ambrose Aisabor, stormed an uncompleted building where a decomposing headless body, human parts and some murder weapons were found.

27yr old sentenced to 2yrs in jail for stealing a phone



A 27-year-old man, identified as Wasiu Moshood, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment without an option of fine by an Ibadan magistrate’s court for stealing a BlackBerry phone.

Moshood was said to have committed the offence during the commissioning of a branch of Shoprite in Ibadan on Friday, June 19, 2014.

Police nab Ernest Nwankwo, pastor accused of running a ritualists’ den


Ernest Nwankwo, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry, a.k.a House of Mercy, located in the Ogolonto area of Ikorodu, Lagos, who allegedly runs a ritualists' den, has finally been arrested by the Nigerian police almost a week after he escaped following the arrest of one of his church members who was caught trying to kidnap her neighbour's 7 year old son.

The woman, Rosemary Chukwu, claimed her pastor had sent her to kidnap the boy for ritual purpose.

According to Vanguard, Nwankwo, who was arrested around Ebute Metta area of Lagos yesterday, is currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos.

Nwankwo has since denied that the building on Oshodi Street in Ikorodu where eight victims were found is a ritualists' den. He said the building was used to keep lunatics.

Student jailed 14 years for kidnapping


A Delta State High Court sitting at Asaba on Tuesday convicted and sentenced two men including a student, Ndudi Ogwu, 22, to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour for kidnapping a nurse.

Ogwu, an ND II mechanical engineering student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku was sentenced alongside one businessman, Chukwudi Ifemeni, 22, to 10 years on each the count of kidnapping and four years for conspiracy.

Bomb blasts hit Kaduna, Borno, Osun states



A suicide bomber, suspected to be a member of the terrorist Islamic sect, Boko Haram, early on Tuesday detonated an Impoverished Explosive Device at the popular Maiduguri Monday Market, killing no fewer than 17 persons.

Sixty-nine persons were reportedly injured in the attack.


Also in Ile-Ife, Osun State, a low-calibre bomb went off in the Onipetu area of the town around 4.00am but nobody was killed.

Doctors begin indefinite strike today



The Nigerian Medical Association on Monday announced plan to embark on an indefinite strike, starting from Tuesday, July 1.

The NMA President, Dr Kayode Obembe, who made the announcement at a news conference in Abuja, said the decision followed the expiration of a two-week ultimatum it gave the Federal Government to meet its 24-point demand.

Main actor in Chibok girls abduction arrested

In a statement released moments ago, the Nigerian military said it has arrested Babuji Ya'ari, (pictured above), who is described as the key actor in the Chibok girls abduction. Babuji, according to the military, was a member of the Youth Vigilante Group popularly known as civilian JTF, which he used as a cover to spy on the activities of the Nigerian security forces, acting as a spy & gathering information for terrorist group. 51 Killed in a church near Chibok


51 people are feared dead after armed men attacked some communities near Chibok, and also set ablaze five churches early Sunday.

In the offensive, which was said to have lasted for about four hours, the terrorists attacked churches during Sunday worship, shot at worshippers and set the church buildings ablaze.
