Shell manager, businessman lured, killed by internet ‘lovers’

A manager in Shell Development Petroleum Company (SDPC) Nigeria and a businessman have been allegedly killed in Rivers State by fraudsters impersonating as women on a dating site.


The corpses of the victims and one other unidentified person have been recovered in a bush by the police in the state. The late Shell manager, Mr. Progress Benin Disi, went missing on March 7, while Shola Olaseinde, the businessman got missing on March 26. Police, it was gathered, were initially working on kidnap until investigation led them to the discovery of a syndicate said to specialise in luring people, especially rich men through dating sites with a view to ripping them off

I've been hearing a few stories about Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square having issues for a while now. I hear they disagree on everything now...songs, videos, ideas etc...but because they are twin brothers, I figured well, they will sort things out...so I didn't write.

On Wednesday April 16th, I gathered exclusively from industry sources that the brothers fought each other physically during rehearsals. They had to be separated by their dancers. This is fact! But I decided to leave the story alone because which sibling doesn't disagree sometimes, right? But now their older brother, Jude Okoye, who is also their manager, just tweeted that after ten years he's done.

"Artists who show off online are asking for trouble"- Etcetera says

Reacting to Alibaba's position on the advantages of Nigerian celebrities showing off their possessions online, Etcetera said he doesn't agree with the practice.

Speaking with Punch, the singer said celebs who do this are asking for trouble.

"I think that artistes who are in the habit of posting expensive items on social media should tread carefully because of the present situation in the country. If they continue to do this, they might be asking for trouble. Also, artistes, who prefer to have their names on the license plates of their cars, had better watch it. If their colleagues in the United States do these things, it doesn’t mean it is okay to do so in Nigeria.”

The Nigeria Football Federation is not taking anything to chance as they have delegated some coaches to South Africa to spy on Iran, one of their opponents for the Brazil World Cup starting in June.

 The Iranians landed in the rainbow nation of South Africa on Tuesday for their first pre-World Cup training camp with only 11 players and no goalkeeper, local media reported although more of their players would later join them.
A source from the NFF said that they would be sending their coaches to keep an eye on the Iranians that many soccer fans have written off as no opposition for the Eagles.

‘’We’re very much aware that they are in South Africa and our coaches are there to watch them’’, our reliable source said.

SURE-P to support Bash Ali’s quest to break Guinness book of records

The Chairman of the Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) Gen. Martin-Luther Agwai , on Wednesday assured Cruiserweight boxer Bash Ali of maximum support in his boxing quest for glory.



Agwai gave the assurance in Abuja when he met with Ali who was soliciting SURE-P’s support for the Guinness Book of World Record fight.

The International Boxing Union (IBU) is demanding $1 million (N162 million) sanctioning fees to be paid latest April 30 or Nigeria will lose the hosting right.

Agwai, however, said Nigerians should see the Guinness Book of World Record fight as a national project and help the boxer to source for the money

Man beheads 2 year-old boy, rapes mother in Ogun state

According to PM News, a middle aged man named Mamodu Bashir Ibrahim has been arrested by the Ogun State police command for behading a 2year old boy and raping the boy's mother inside an uncompleted building in a bush at Ofada town in Obafemi/Owode local government area of the State.

Reports say the man trailed the woman who was carrying her son on her back, into the bush, forced her into an uncompleted building, raped her, then stabbed her in the neck. He then cut off the little boy's head. A passerby discovered what was happening and raised an alarm but by the time help finally came, the suspect had already fled the scene with the little boy's head. Continue...

He was later arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department, CID of the State Police Command and when they asked for the boy's head, he said he had sold it to a woman in Ibadan.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident and said investigations is ongoing and they are trying to track down the woman who bought the little boy's head.

Over the weekend in Lagos, Oscar nominee and BAFTA award winner, Chiwetel Ejiofor laid claim to the fact that Half of a Yellow Sun is not just a Nigerian story but an international story which has its implications and relevance across the world. The movie which was centered on love could not have left the original plot out which talks about the Biafran war. 

By now you probably have heard of Half of a Yellow Sun, but no one has told you about the nudity and sex scenes, by the way it was artistically done. Thandie Newton came out of the bath tub naked with her two boobs standing at alert, Chiwetel and Thandie Newton had sex and there was another sex scene in the movie, again all were artistically done. The question is, can Nigerian actors ever go all the way in movies like these people did (remember Chiwetel and Lupita in 12 Years a Slave)?

Toni Kan, a film critic and author said the sex scene was well done, ‘you can’t be in the bath tub and be fully dressed or start covering your body when your husband enters the room like we do in our movies, Nigerians would love it and after all Ghanaians have done more than that.’ He added that it justified the description in the book. Besides this is collaboration between Nollywood and Hollywood and certain things have to be made as real as possible.

A renowned journalist, Steve Ayorinde, said nothing is offensive, ‘part of the reason we don’t do well in our movies is because we don’t speak cinema language, and nudity in movies is given unnecessary attention, you can’t be in your bath tub and be clothed. Movies that win the Oscar are doing it professionally and the actors and actresses see it as their job and the press doesn’t make a big deal out of it. Also, our acts put restriction on themselves and film makers too and that would not have allowed them go that far. In addition, our movies are not professionally and maturely shot, we need to be lightened up about that and start being professional.’ 

Shaibu Husseini, a journalist and movie critic went on to say that the movie sure has to do with arts and it contributes and advances the story, he doubts if we could do it. ‘Thandie is a professional and convinced it would help the film, we are from a society where normal parts like that are daring and misinterpreted. It’s just an actress portraying her character. Biyi Bandele even played down on some of the descriptions.’

JAMB releases 2014 UTME results

 

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Thrusday, said only 47 candidates scored 250 and above in the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and Dual Based Test (DBT) modes of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted across the country last Saturday.

The Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB,Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, stated this in Abuja, while announcing the release of the 2014 UTME results.

 He said only 24 candidates scored 250 and above in the PPT while 23 candidates scored 250 and above in the DBT.

Meet Britain's youngest parents, 12 & 13 year old welcome daughter

This is sad to see. Children having a child. A British school girl who has not been named welcomed a daughter with her 13 year old boyfriend. (New parents pictured above with their son).

The schoolgirl got pregnant when she was only 11 years old and still in primary school by a boy who was only 12. The children said they 'were in love' and had been dating for a year when they found out she was pregnant. They met over Christmas 2012 in a park when she was 10 and he was 11 going on 12. The children welcomed a healthy daughter on Sunday April 13th 2014.  

At 12 years and three months, she is five months younger than the previous youngest UK mother, Tressa Middleton, who gave birth at age 13. 

Her mum who is only 27 is now Britain's youngest grandmother. The new mum has a 3 year old sister and 9 year old brother and her grandmother who is 56 is now a great grandmother. Continue...

Football star Didier Drogba launches men's underwear line

Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba has launched his own men's underwear line. The 36 year old football star shared a pic of himself modeling shorts from the line. Hmmm...#betterthingz.

 

He  teamed up with Marseille-based designers HOM last year to create the exclusive range of men's underwear and beachwear which will start selling from May 1.

 

According to Drogba, a percentage from every pair of pant sold would go to his charity foundation, Didier Drogba foundation.

Nigerian caught in India with heroin concealed in ladies shoes

A Nigerian man, Ozioma Kenneth Odeomenan has been arrested in New Delhi India with 330g of heroin worth $120,000 concealed in ladies shoes he was to export to America. 

 

According to India police report, Ozioma was arrested after an anonymous tip-off they got on the 14th of April that a Nigerian man carrying hard drugs was coming to the Janakpuri metro station. A team of police officers laid a trap and apprehended Ozioma, who was found with 330 grams of heroin cleverly concealed in the specially made cavities in the soles of women’s sandals.

 

The Nigerian later confessed he was heading to Mahipalpur to courier the drugs to the US.

 

India Times reports that Ozioma who had his education in South Africa relocated to India in 2009 and ventured into the business of exporting shoes to Nigeria for sale. The business did not yield the returns he expected and so he abandoned it and was introduced to drug trafficking business by another Nigerian identified as Ike

Someone has leaked Chris Brown's mugshot from his arrest in Washington D.C back in October 2013 after he and his bodyguard assaulted a male fan who attempted to photo-bomb Chris while he was taking a picture with two women. The victim's nose was broken in the attack.

His bodyguard, Chris Hornsby, who was also arrested, is expected to take responsibility for punching the fan during his trial which is set to begin today April 17th

Abuja bombing: Perpetrators are pigs - Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has described the men who carried out the attack at Nyanya Motor Park on Monday  as pigs, whose corpses should be fed to pigs when they die.

"I completely condemned the bomb attack on a motor park in Nyanya. This is very inhuman, ungodly and barbaric. I don’t even have the adjectives to describe what these mad people have done. As far as I am concerned, the perpetrators are not human beings and in my own opinion, when they finally die their corpses should be given to pigs because they are on the same level with pigs. How do you do this kind of thing to human beings? So definitely, they cannot be humans. It is so unfortunate. To make it worse, there are people who are sponsoring them. As the judgment of God comes upon them, the judgment will also come on those who are sponsoring them. Anybody who has given N1 to these people, whether they are local people or foreign financiers, the same judgment will come upon them and their children.” They will not escape it. 293 missing as South Korea ferry carrying students sinks

293 people, mostly students who were on a high school trip, are missing after a ferry capsized & sank in dense fog off South Korea's coast last night, local media reports.

A South Korean government spokesman told reporters this morning that there had been 459 people on board the ferry, including 325 students, 15 teachers, 89 other passengers and a crew of 30.

So far 164 people have been rescued, three confirmed dead, while hundreds are still unaccounted for. One rescued passenger told The Associated Press he believed that many people had been trapped inside the ship when it sank.

The ferry had been traveling to the southern tourist island of Jeju when it sank just three hours from it's destination. The distress call was made around 8p.m last night, 11 hours into the trip. Continue...

Troops Free Secondary Girls Abducted By Terrorists In Chibok

According to reports, some of the secondary school students who were abducted on Monday night have been rescued by security personnel.

121 of the abducted students of the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State have been freed by troops pursuing the suspected members of the Boko Haram sect believed to have carried out the attack. The number of the freed girls was not disclosed.  

According to a statement issued by the Director Defence Information and Coordinator, Major-General Chris Olukolade, some 129 students were abducted on Monday night by a group of terrorists. Eyewitness had put the number of abducted girls by the terrorists at 200

Nigeria’s refining capacity rises to 26%

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has put the combined average capacity utilisation of Nigeria's four refineries at 25.95 per cent for the month of December 2013.
According to data from the NNPC's December 2013 Monthly Petroleum Information, this is a significant improvement from the 6.46 per cent average capacity utilisation of the refineries in November 2013, and a slight decline from the 30.87 per cent utilisation year on year to December 2012.
The refineries are the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC 1 & 2), and the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC).
Specifically, the NNPC put the respective average capacity utilisation of the refineries in December, as: KRPC – 32.96 per cent, PHRC – 4.48 per cent, and WRPC – 40.41 per cent.
According to the NNPC, 388,000 metric tonnes, MT, of dry crude oil, condensate and slop was received by the refineries, in the month under review.

Jehovah’s Witness Church members decry marriage restriction

Some members of Jehovah's Witness have come out to condemn their church's stance against them marrying outside their faith. According to Jehovah's Witness' doctrine, members of the church are to only marry themselves and not from any other Christian faith. If they do, it's seen as an act of immorality. And people who marry outside the church are usually expelled from the church and treated as non-members.

The members say this has kept them unmarried for years and in some cases, get married to members who they are not attracted to. Continue...
