KADUNA: El-Rufai in massive early lead
The results trickling in from Kaduna State gubernatorial election show that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Malam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai is leading at major polling units in Kaduna metropolis.
According to results announced at various polling units by polling units covered by our correspondent El-Rufai may take the day as results are much different from that of presidential elections.

Nollywood star, Desmond Olusola Elliot has won his bid to represent the people of Surulere constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, defeating the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bayo Smith. This is according to tweets by the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate.

Based on results announced from 55% of polling units across Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by more than 80,000 votes. Figures obtained as at 9.30 p.m. (Nigerian time) revealed that Mr. Ambode had received 325,026 votes as opposed to 240, 467 votes for Mr. Agbaje.

The APC and PDP are seen as the main rivals in the race for the Lagos State governorship. Both parties campaigned heavily over the last week in the state that was carried by the APC’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Young Moroccan Athletes burnt to death in bus crash
A head-on collision between a petrol tanker and a bus carrying a delegation of young Moroccan athletes said to be around 14/15 years old resulted in the death of 31 people with about 9 people seriously injured after the tanker exploded and spread fire.
South Africa set to return $15m arms money
A South African newspaper, The Mail & Guardian, reported on Friday that South Africa had begun to work out the process of returning more than R100-million in Nigerian money that it confiscated last year, or clearing the way to sell arms to the West African country.
The Mail and Guardian through diplomatic sources informed that South Africa has begun talks to work out a process to return the money in an effort to start off on a clean slate with the recently elected government of the Nigerian president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.

One evil nanny identified as Mary Akinloye who kidnapped three children in Surulere area of Lagos State has given the victims’ family two days to produce N13m ransom or lose the children.
She was said to have issued the ultimatum through a man who used her telephone to communicate with the family.

Nanny who kidnapped Lagos children demands N15m ransom
A nanny, Mary Akinloye, who allegedly kidnapped three kids in the Surulere area of Lagos State has demanded N15m from the victim’s parents.
Our correspondent learnt that the family was contacted on Thursday by the suspect and others, who were suspected to be members of her group. They were said to have demanded the N15m as ransom.
It was reported on Wednesday that the Orekoya family had posted information on OLX, an online sales portal, seeking the service of a nanny.

Oba of Lagos not APC’s spokesman - Tinubu

Jonathan faults ‘negative’ celebration of Buhari’s victory
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday condemned what he called “negative triumphalism” which he said had been put on display by some unnamed persons since March 31, when he lost the presidential election to Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress.

Question marks over Patience Jonathan’s whereabouts
The wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has not been seen in public since President Goodluck Jonathan lost the March 28 presidential election to Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress.
The President had last Tuesday conceded defeat and called Buhari on the telephone when it became clear from the results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission that he had lost his re-election bid.

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state says for anyone to successfully impeach him, they would have to impeach God first. Gov. Two suicide bombers nabbed in Borno
Two would-be suicide bombers were on Sunday arrested in Biu town of Borno State, as they closed in on their target for attacks, security sources and witnesses said.
One of the suicide bombers was killed after he was intercepted as he was about to enter a crowded mosque where worshippers were observing their 2p.m. prayer.
Kenya pounds al-Shabab in Somalia after varsity massacre
Kenya’s military has launched air strikes against al-Shabab bases in Somalia following an attack on a Kenyan university that killed 148 people last week.
Colonel David Obonyo, a military spokesman, said on Monday that warplanes had attacked positions of the al-Shabab group on Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning.

The Oba of Lagos’ threat against the igbos in Lagos that if they do not vote for the APC in the governorship elections on saturday they should be ready for the consequences and that if they don’t vote for Ambode they should be ready to perish in the lagoon is ominous and unacceptable.
The truth is that we were threatened with ethnic cleansing and religious carnage in the north had Buhari not won the election on march 28th and had Jonathan not quickly conceded defeat and now our traditional supporters are being threatened in Lagos and in many other states.
