Meriam Ibrahim to be freed after Sudanese court orders release

According to Sudan's SUNA news agency, Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman sentenced to death for refusing to abandon her christian faith is to be released soon. The state media today announced that the appeal court has ruled that she be immediately freed and all charges against her dropped.

"The appeal court ordered the release of Mariam Yahya and the cancellation of the (previous) court ruling," Sudan's SUNA news agency said.

"We are going to the prison now to find out more details, We heard it just now on the state radio. We really hope it's true." he said. Only last month, precisely May 31st, a Sudanese Foreign Affairs official in London had claimed that the Sudanese government would soon release her but this was immediately denied by the Sudanese Government stating the  authority of setting her free was solely the responsibility of the courts.
Pregnant 27year old Meriam Ibrahim was on May 15th sentenced to death by hanging by a high court in Sudan after she denounced her Muslim faith and embraced the christian faith of her husband, Daniel Wani.
